Based on a similar painting that is pencil inscribed in the artist’s hand, Mrs. Barchus gave the title Around the Bend in Alaska to this scene.  However, it is not known which river is depicted.  This painting was likely painted a few years after her visit to Alaska, as it looks like a later painted version of the other painting in this Gallery Index with the same title.
