Postcard – Mt Hood at Sunset (1905)
Barchus had lithograph reproductions made of three of her paintings - Mt. Hood at Sunset, Mt. Rainier at Noonday and Crater Lake – and offered them for sale at the 1905 Lewis and Clark Exposition. The former two were produced in both a small and larger version. A substantial quantity must have remained after the Fair ended, and she determined to generate income with them by some means. Some were mounted on decorative paper and framed. Others, like this one, were applied to a blank postcard and sold as a “fancy” postcard. Even after Eliza’s death in 1959, Agnes Barchus continued to sell remaining stock of these cards.
