Sunset on Crag, Columbia River
Oil on Canvas   36 1/4 x 22 1/4
Barchus included this painting in her 1931 solo exhibit at the Portland Mechanics Fair. The book, Eliza R. Barchus The Oregon Artist, briefly describes this show and lists the titles of the 35 paintings displayed. In this book Agnes Barchus, author of the book and the artist’s daughter, gives this painting the title Castle Crag. However, a document discovered in the family papers numerically indexes each painting to two large photographs taken during the exhibit and lists the title as Sunset on Crag, Columbia River. It is not known where the specific location is along the Columbia River.
