Barchus received a gold medal for her paintings at the 1905 Lewis & Clark Exposition that was held in Portland, Oregon. This award was not part of the juried fine arts exhibit but recognition for the high quality of paintings she offered for sale at the fair. The medal is fairly heavy, being 2 1/2 inches in diameter and about 1/4 inch thick. One wishes that it was made of real gold!
