Ellen’s Island, Lake Katrine, Scotland

Two paintings of this scene are known to exist. The previous owner of one of the paintings was aware of the painting’s provenance and also the subject depicted – an island in a lake in Scotland! This was confirmed by an internet search (see below). It is unknown what prompted Mrs. Barchus to paint this subject (at least twice) that was across the “pond” almost 5,000 miles from Portland, Oregon.
