This painting was in the Barchus family collection until sold to Mr. Joe Erdelac of Ohio in 1977. This painting was one of 35 that Mrs. Barchus displayed at the Portland Merchant’s Exposition in 1931. In 1974 Agnes Barchus, daughter of the artist, used it as one of the illustration paintings in her biography book Eliza R. Barchus: The Oregon Artist (Binfort & Mort Publisher, 1974). Agnes states that this canvas was painted in 1914 after the artist’s return from Yosemite Valley National Park.
