Yosemite: Yosemite from Inspiration Point

Oil on Canvas * 22 x 36

This painting, likely painted soon after her visit to Yosemite in the summer of 1914, was held in the Barchus family until 1972 when it was sold to a Cleveland, Ohio art collector.  Agnes Barchus documented much of the family painting collection in the early 1970’s as she was preparing to write her mother’s biography Eliza R. Barchus: The Oregon Artist and this canvas was imaged in that effort, and she gave the painting a slightly different title: Yosemite from Artist Point.  In all likelihood, this may be the only canvas she painted from this Yosemite viewpoint.
