Rooster Rock #3

Labeled Roster Rock / Columbia River in pencil by Barchus, this is a very early painting. It has a tinge of primitiveness but also has some signature traits from her art instructor W. S. Parrott – the very fine brush strokes, the bare twigs in the foreground and a splash of vegetation colors. It is signed horizontally, not at the normal angled direction, at the extreme bottom right edge, another indicator of an early work by her.
