Sauvie Island #5

Oil on Canvas * 22 x 36

This painting depicts a quiet summer evening, along the Multnomah Channel (part of the Willamette River), which is on the west side of Sauvie Island which is just north of Portland, Oregon. The viewer is drawn into the picture by the well-traveled dirt road that leads toward the brilliant sunset. This is an unusual painting by Barchus, not only because of the scenery depicted, but also due to her placement of crimson and blue wildflowers that add color to the foreground.
