Just before the turn of the century, Barchus traveled to eastern Oregon to conduct painting lessons in Baker City and in some of the small surrounding communities. This photograph was taken by Parker Studios, Baker City, Oregon, dating the image to circa 1898-99. In fact, it may have be taken at the same sitting as Portrait of Artist – Age 40-41, but in a different dress outfit. Barchus would have been in her early forties at the time this portrait was taken.
