This home was built in 1902. Though three additional homes were subsequently built by Mrs. Barchus, the family never sold this one. During periods when the family lived elsewhere, this residence was rented. Over the years this residence had three different addresses. For about the first four years, it was commonly addressed as East 27th and Taggart Streets. By 1907 correspondence consistently used 546 East 27th Street. In 1934 Portland readdressed streets and the address became 2804 SE 27th. Mrs. Barchus lived at this residence for the last 30 years of her life.
