Yosemite: El Capitan & Three Brothers

Oil on Canvas * 12 x 36

This is an unusual view of Yosemite Valley, and possibly a contrived view. At center is El Capitan and off to the right is Three Brothers. The Merced River fills the foreground. Mrs. Barchus chose to exhibit this painting at the Portland Art Museum’s Second All Oregon Show in 1942. Below is the entry card which is still affixed to the reverse of the painting. By this time, she had already ended her painting career.
