Just a handful of watercolors by Barchus have surfaced over the years. It is not believed that she painted in this medium but on rare occasion. This example is the most finished but is still simple in composition. Not signed on the front but as with other examples the paper is embossed on the reverse: Eliza R. Barchus.  It is housed in the familiar frame found on many of the small oil paintings that have come up in the market over the years.
