Just before the turn of the century, Barchus traveled to eastern Oregon to conduct painting lessons in Baker City and in some of the small surrounding communities. This photograph was taken by Parker Studios, Baker City, Oregon, dating the image to circa 1898-00. Barchus would have been in her early forties at the time this portrait was taken.
