This portrait of Eliza must have been a favorite of hers as she used it in her advertising materials throughout her career. The exact date she sat for this picture is not known but it was most likely ca. 1888 – 1890. In the fall of 1887 she won the gold medal at the Portland Mechanics Fair. It is that medal that Eliza is wearing on the ribbon necklace. (The dime size medal is extant, and still retains the gold heart attached to it.)
