Several unfinished paintings of Mt. Shasta used to surface on the market but not so often in the last 10 years or so. All have been in about the same state of completeness – the sky and mountain composition completed, the mid-ground rocks and trees in progress and only the foreground base paint applied. A label affixed to the reverse, found on may of Barchus’ small oil paintings done on artist board, is the later of the two labels she applied and had slightly higher prices. This unfinished painting measures 6 1/2″ x 8 1/2,” and would have sold for $5.00 if completed. It is not known why she left so many unfinished paintings.
