Picturesque Oregon Booklet (1905)

Eliza R. Barchus - Picturesque Oregon Booklet

Ideal Glimpses of PICTURESQUE OREGON was a marketing publication Eliza produced to promote paintings sales during the Lewis & Clark Centennial Exposition and Oriental Fair held in Portland, Oregon in 1905. It was an item that was given free to booth visitors. Several of her paintings are reproduced in the 16 page document – Mt. Hood, Mt. Rainier, Three Sisters, Mt. Shasta, Multnomah Falls, Rooster Rock, and Castle Geyser, Yellowstone. (She visited Yellowstone in 1901.) The booklet’s introduction, and the caption under a portait image of the artist, already indicate that she had adopted the title of “the Oregon Artist.”
