These hand lettered title plates for paintings were long ago separated from their paintings. The address was Mrs. Barchus’ first studio (and residence) which she occupied from 1886 – 1893. Is it possible that the Mt. Hood title plate (2.75″ x 10″) was used for her 40″ x 60″ Mt. Hood entry to the National Academy in 1890? The title plate Golden Gate, San Francisco (2.5″ x 10″) indicates a scene painted by Mrs. Barchus that has not yet been documented.
